Ruby's Shake Shack - Cali

I thought this shake shack was the same one that is famous in NY but it's not.  Fortunately, it was awesome.  The burgers are great, the shakes are tasty and the most amazing thing was the view.

What?! It's not the same one as the one in NYC?

Yes this is a crooked photo.

The view is worth it all.  The restaurant is actually located in a pit-stop like area off of the highway.  I kept thinking this is kind of like that scene in the Fast and the Furious when they stopped for fried shrimp.  I wonder where that restaurant is.  I could use some fried shrimp right now.

I am so hungry right now.

And yes I've already deviated away from coffee posts.

Dark Horse

Dark Horse Cafe on the weekends is packed.  If I can get a seat, I feel pretty lucky.  It's on Spadina south of Dundas somewhere.  I'm sure you can find it.  What intrigues me is that the building where it is located has some of the coolest interiors.
The staff are great.  Look at how happy he is.
I like this picture because the guy at the bottom of the photo looks pretty upset with his studies.

We tried the americanos.  Amazing.  It felt very balanced and refreshing. The cookie was okay.

Start

It starts from here.  You know that feeling you get at the beginning of a vacation?  When you get off of the plane in a unfamiliar city and you get in the cab and head towards the hotel.  You see a skyline you've never seen before, interesting architecture and even a slightly different sky.  This is my favourite moment, as I'm in awe.  While on vacation it is this moment that is furthest from the end of the trip. It feels as if anything is possible.

Coffee reminds me of this moment.  From the shortest coffee-break to spending a day in the coffee shop, it's like a chance to re-group and plan the next steps.  For me, its like a true time-out where your thoughts can become organized. What you do next is up to you.
